World Beach Games 2023 Chief De Mission Meeting In Bali, No Israeli Representatives
JAKARTA - Representative 69 countries will attend the Chef de Mission (CdM) ANOC World Beach Games 2023 meeting in Bali, April 28-1 May. However, the meeting will not be attended by Israeli representatives.
This assurance was obtained in an official letter sent by the Secretary-General of ANOC Gunilla Lindberg to the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee Raja Sapta Oktohari, Monday, April 17 yesterday.
"Based on ANOC's official letter to us, 69 countries will attend the CdM AWBG Meeting in Bali, at the end of April. We have forwarded this information to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Bali Provincial Government," said Chairman of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, in a statement received, Tuesday, April 18.
The country that was present at this meeting was a picture of participants participating in the World Beach Games in Bali later even though the qualifying for this event was actually still going on until July.
In the meeting later, the Indonesia ANOC World Beach Games Organizing Committee will present the host's readiness. This readiness includes venues, accommodation, transportation, and others.
Okto said Indonesia must be able to take full advantage of the World Beach Games. Moreover, this event is the third largest multi-event in the world after the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics.
"With World Beach, we can knit bigger legacy. Keep in mind that international sports events in Indonesia can provide multiplier effects in terms of sports, tourism, and the economy," said Okto.
The World Beach Games in Bali will be held on August 5-12. The activity will continue with the ANOC General Assembly on August 13-15.
Based on the number of participating countries, the World Beach Games is the largest multi-event ever held in Indonesia. This event can be a stepping stone to the bidding for the 2036 Olympics.
World Beach Bali 2023 will be attended by around 1,600 athletes from 130 countries. However, this event is still a polemic until now because of the participation of the Israeli contingent.
Bali Governor I Wayan Koster before rejecting the country's participation. The decision followed his previous stance against Israel playing in his territory at the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
The refusal then made FIFA write off Indonesia as the host. Argentina was then appointed to replace Indonesia.
