Rupiah Moves Stagnant, Opened At Rp13,673 Per US Dollar

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate opened up slightly by 1 point or 0.01 percent at the level of Rp13,673 per US dollar at the opening of trading on Thursday, February 13.

Based on VOI monitoring, at 09.00, the rupiah was still moving at the same level. Monex Investindo Futures Head Researcher Ariston Tjendra said that so far the market's concern about the corona virus outbreak had decreased because reports of the number of newly infected people had decreased.

"Risk assets appear to have strengthened this morning. This might support the strengthening of the rupiah again today," Ariston told VOI.

However, he continued, the market is still alert to any developments that occur. Moreover, the number of deaths continues to increase and the spread outside China is also increasing, such as in Singapore and other countries.

"I estimate the rupiah will move in the range of Rp.13,640-13,700 per US dollar today," he said.
