Formula E Jakarta Will Come With A New Format, Determination Of Racing Not Minutes But Rounds
JAKARTA - An electric car racing event, Formula E will be held again in Jakarta on June 4-5. In that ninth series, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced a series of regulatory updates.
The change was made after it was approved by the FIA. If in the previous season the Formula E race took place with a duration of about 45 minutes per one race, but different conditions would be seen this season.
Starting from the 2023 season, the Formula E race will take place in several rounds, not within a certain period of time.
In order to maintain consistency in the transition to rounds, the Interruption Safety Car and Full Course Yellow will also be compensated for with additional rounds, replacing additional racing time features.
"Our updated sporting rules are evidence of the sustainable evolution and positive impact of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship for riders, teams, partners and fans into the world of electric cars," said Jamie Reigle as CEO of Formula E. quoted in his official statement on Monday, April 17.
Formula E and the FIA have also teamed up with strategic technology partners to develop pioneer batteries and charging capabilities that produce smaller, faster, and lighter Gen3 cars to accept energy boosts during the race.
This collaboration has resulted in the development of batteries capable of receiving 4kWh of energy within 30 seconds. This is the most advanced EV battery in the world today, generated by a 600kW booster.
The 30-second charge of Attack Charge will open two enhanced Attack Mode periods. Later, Gen3 racing car power output will increase from 300kW to 350kW.
However, Attack Charge will still go through trials in certain races in F1 2023.
"This is at the heart of what Formula E wants to achieve and we can't wait to see this new generation come true in this ninth season," Jamie Reigle explained.
"Commbination of increased sports, major changes in car performance, cutting-edge battery technology and innovation from Attack Charge will make our race more competitive and entertaining while displaying a future for EV development."
