Lystio Sigit Prabowo In The Eyes Of Banten Ulama, Not Muslim But His Love For Ulama And Ponpes Extraordinary

JAKARTA - The performance records of Komjen Lystio Sigit Prabowo were opened one by one. Before serving as Kabareskrim until the sole candidate for Chief of Police chosen by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), this three-star general has held several important positions in the Bhayangkara Corps.

One of them was revealed by the Chairman of the Tebuireng 8 Serang Foundation, KH Ahmad Qizwini. Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo once helped build the Tebuireng 8 Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Serang. At that time, Komjen Lystio Sigit was the Banten Police Chief.

According to Ahmad, the assistance from Sigit was not only in the form of materials but also labor. At that time, Sigit deployed 60 of his personnel for the casting stage on the second floor of the main building of the Tebuireng 8 branch of the Jombang Islamic Boarding School, East Java.

"This main building was built in 2017 when Mr. Sigit was Kapolda. This building is a silent witness to how Mr. Sigit was directly involved in helping the construction process," said Ahmad through a press release reported by Antara, Sunday, January 17.

He said that the 60 police officers who helped build the pesantren were directly instructed by Sigit. This was done in order to set an example that law enforcement officers really care about religious leaders and pesantren.

According to Ahmad, in the process of building the pesantren, Sigit did not talk much. However, when the pesantren needed help, Sigit was ready to help.

"That is why Pak Sigit is very close and loved by the ulama and the people of Banten. Even though he is non-Muslim, his behavior and actions are like Muslims. Very rarely is a police figure like him," he said.

Ahmad added that Sigit also paid attention to religious activities. It can be seen from the presence of Sigit in every religious event. "My impression during his tenure as Head of Banten Police was extraordinary. It is very difficult to find him bad," he added.

Ahmad said that his party supports President Joko Widodo's decision to appoint Komjen Sigit as the sole candidate for National Police Chief.

"My message to Pak Sigit is to carry out the promoter program, God willing, the National Police will be better and loved by the public," he said.

Meanwhile, the leader of the TQN Al-Mubarok Cinangka Islamic boarding school, Raden KH Muhammad Yusuf Prianadi, also told the story of Listyo Sigit when he was still the Banten Police Chief.

"It is very difficult for me to explain his kindness, because it speaks to the heart," said Yusuf.

He said that Sigit's behavior and actions were very synonymous with Islamic teachings. Even though he is not a Muslim, his love for pesantren and religious leaders is extraordinary.

"Likewise for Banten culture, he really cares about the martial arts school," he said.
