Determined To Reclaim Russian-occupied Territory Including Crimea, Ukraine: We Will Use Any Weapons
JAKARTA - Ukraine will test and use any weapons that are not prohibited from releasing its territory, including Russia's occupied Crimea, the head of the National Security and Defense Council said Friday.
Olexy Danilov's comments come as Kyiv is expected to counterattack in the coming weeks or months, aiming to retake Russia's territory in the south and east.
"Krimea is Ukrainian territory, and we will test and use any weapons that are not prohibited by international law, which will help free up our territory," he tweeted.
West Mitra Kyiv has provided important military support, including modern combat tanks and armored vehicles, since last year's massive Russian invasion.
However, they stopped providing heavier weapons, such as F-16 fighter jets, which Ukraine requested.
Kyiv has also developed its own weapons, such as Neptune drones and missiles, which it said were used to sink Russian Black Sea Fleet ships last year.
It is known, prior to the February invasion last year, Russia controlled the Crimean peninsula in 2014.
