SAR Team Deploys Tracking Dogs To Help Evacuate Mamuju Earthquake Victims
JAKARTA - The joint Search and Rescue Team (SAR) continues to be deployed to search for earthquake victims buried under the rubble of the Mitra Manakarra Hospital, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi (Sulbar).
Antara reported on Sunday, January 17, that one of the units involved was a sniffer dog, K-9 SAR Polri. These trained dogs are deployed for the evacuation and search for victims who may be in the rubble.
Antara reported, tents will be erected at the Manakarra Mamuju Stadium to accommodate refugees who have spent the night outside the stadium after the earthquake on Friday, January 15, 2021.
The local government will make the stadium complex a refugee center for earthquake victims. Electricity to public kitchens have also been established on site.
Earthquake victims who were previously outside the stadium can then occupy tents in the stadium complex. Tents are also fitted with bulkheads to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19 among refugees.
Currently, the Disaster Preparedness Youth Team, TNI and Polri personnel, as well as officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing have come to assist in handling the impact of the earthquake in Mamuju Regency.
