PBSI Targets Three Titles At The Asian Badminton Championships, Men's Doubles Have The Largest Chance
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has set a high target at the 2023 Asian Badminton Championship (BAC). The three titles were set by PBSI in the event which took place on April 25-30 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The championship target will be charged to the men's singles sector, men's doubles, and women's singles.
"From (the championship) in Asia, I hope there will be three. There are men's singles, men's doubles, and women's singles," said the Head of Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI. Rionny Mainaky, as quoted from Antara.
Rionny said the biggest chance to win the title came from the men's doubles number based on the dominant record from the previous tournament.
"From our men's doubles, we are dominant, but don't take it lightly. From the men's singles, I think from yesterday's results they have motivation. I think from training there is curiosity, this is the best of them for men's singles," Rionny explained, as reported by Antara.
Meanwhile, from the women's singles, Rionny hopes that Gregoria can return to registering after previously breaking records by winning the BWF World Tour for the first time at the Spain Masters.
Gregoria's appearance was also considered to have increased significantly. At the BWF Super 300 level two weeks ago, Gregoria successfully defeated the 2016 Rio Olympic champions as well as the vice-host of Carolina Marin, as well as the silver medalist at the Pusarla V. Sindhu Olympics from India.
"Gregoria had won yesterday, we prepared it again. Not mentally, but added with the title. Always (lolos) the semifinals and then the finals, finally I can win. Now I'm targeting another champion," said Rionny.
