JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD confirmed that the draft or draft related to the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja will be opened to the public if President Joko Widodo has sent a Presidential Letter (Surpres) to the Indonesian Parliament.
This draft will also be opened after the DPR has accepted and held a plenary session to discuss the matter. "If the DPR has not disclosed that there is a Surpres in plenary session, we are not allowed to (open), this is ethics," Mahfud told reporters at the Kemenkopolhukam Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.
Mahfud, who seemed to have missed the news regarding the handover of the Surpres that had been carried out this afternoon at the DPR RI Building, then corrected his statement. According to him, if the letter has been submitted and accepted by the DPR RI, the draft related to the Omnibus Law can be opened to the public.
"Later when you get here, you can also see here. I have sent it too," he said to reporters.
Previously reported, the government, through six ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, submitted the Presidential Decree along with the academic draft of the Work Creation Omnibus Law Bill to the DPR which was later accepted by the Chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani.
"On this occasion, the Coordinating Minister and the ministers conveyed that the Work Creation Omnibus Law will consist of 79 bills, 15 chapters, with 174 articles and will be discussed in the DPR. So if anyone says the DPR has read the draft, not yet. Does the DPR know its contents. , not yet, "said Puan after a meeting at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.
"Later it will be carried out through the existing mechanism in the DPR, whether it be through Baleg or Special Committee. Because it involves seven related commissions to discuss 11 clusters consisting of 15 chapters and 174 articles," he added.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government had agreed to change the name from the Omnibus Law Bill on Job Creation to Job Creation. He admitted that the change was based on the direction of the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, so that it would not cause connotative meaning.
The government hopes that the DPR can immediately process it according to the existing mechanism. After this, the government together with the DPR will conduct outreach to all provinces throughout Indonesia so that the public knows the contents of the Omnibus Law draft.
"Socialization will be carried out to all provinces in Indonesia. Of course council members will be involved to socialize so that the public can know what will be discussed and decided," said Airlangga.
