SAR Team Again Finds Dead Victims Of Landslide In Sumedang
JAKARTA - The joint SAR (Search and Rescue) team again found three victims who died from landslides that occurred in Cimanggung, Sumedang, West Java. At least 28 victims have been found and 12 others are still missing.
"The search for victims is constrained by rainy weather and it is necessary to watch out for subsequent landslides, because as informed by the Geological Agency, there are still cracks at several points of landslide locations," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Raditya Jati, in his official statement on Sunday, January 17th.
Until the eighth day of the process of searching for landslide victims, there were still 12 people who were still in search or were declared missing. However, the data on the person being sought changes according to public complaints.
In an effort to evacuate the victims, the joint team used four heavy equipment. Temporary data as many as 1,020 people were displaced, divided in the IDPs in the Bird Park Field and the homes of relatives that were safe from potential landslides.
So far there have been as many as 985 people from 279 heads of families who have been evacuated as a follow-up disaster mitigation measure. Landslides, which have so far killed dozens of people, on Saturday 16 January.
At that time the Cimanggung area and its surroundings were indeed raining. Then another landslide occurred at around 19.30 WIB. As a result, a number of people and officers on duty were buried under the second avalanche.
