Update On COVID-19 Per January 16: New Records, Positive Cases Raised By 14,224

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has released data on developments in handling COVID-19. Based on examination of 63,300 specimens, 14,224 new positive cases were found.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 896,642 people," quoted from data from the Ministry of Health, Saturday, January 16.

Meanwhile, for cured cases, there were also an additional 8,662 cases. That way, the total will be 727,358 people who have recovered from COVID-19. Meanwhile, the number of cases died increased by 283 to become 25,767 people.

On the other hand, for provincial data with the highest number of additional positive cases are in DKI Jakarta. Based on data, 3,536 people in the capital have tested positive for COVID-19. So that the total residents who have been infected have become 22,3970 people.

Then, other provinces with a high number of additional positive cases included West Java with 3,460 cases. Then, Central Java with 1,997 cases, East Java with 1,160 cases, and South Sulawesi with 659 cases.

Meanwhile, the province with the most recovered cases was also occupied by DKI Jakarta with 2,211 cases. Then, West Java with 2,143 cases, Central Java with 822 cases, South Sulawesi with 590 cases, and East Java with 731 cases.

So far there are 4 provinces that have added cases under 10, namely Gorontalo and Bengkulu and West Sulawesi.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 8,269,701. In detail, 8,135,412 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 134,289 specimens using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 16.2 percent," he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 69,414 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
