PSG Coach Pochettino Anyar Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed that their new coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 48-year-old Argentinian coach will "undergo isolation and adhere to health protocols", PSG said on his Twitter account, Saturday, January 16.

Assistants Jesus Perez and Miguel D'Agostino will temporarily lead the team on Saturday's trip to Angers for the French League game.

Three PSG players have also tested positive for the virus last week: Brazil's Rafinha, German Thilo Kehrer and France's young international Colin Dagba.

Former Tottenham coach Pochettino has had three of PSG's games so far, including winning the French Champions Trophy at Lens on Wednesday thanks to a 2-1 win over arch rivals Marseille.

Pochettino takes over from Thomas Tuchel and signs a contract until 30 June 2022 with an option for an additional one year.

Tuchel was sacked on December 24, reportedly for comments he deemed critical of the Qatari club owner even though he was able to lead the team to its first appearance in last season's Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Pochettino played for PSG from 2001 to 2003.
