Helping West Sulawesi Earthquake, Police Send Two Aircraft

JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) sent a number of assistance in handling the earthquake in Majene and Mamuju, West Sulawesi which occurred on Friday morning, January 15.

This was stated in the telegram letter number STR / 27 / I / Ops.2 / 2021 signed by the Police Chief Assistant Inspector General Imam Sugianto on January 15, 2021.

Head of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Inspector General Prabowo Argo Yuwono, said that the National Police, especially the Regional Police around West Sulawesi, sent a number of assistance.

"For Baharkam, the National Police sent 2 units of Ditpoludara Baharkam Polri aircraft and six K9s along with 15 personnel from the Polri Directorate of Police and Maritime Affairs and one Polair ship type B," said Argo in a written statement, Friday, January 15.

Then the Information and Communication Technology Division of the National Police deployed 24 solar cell units, two generator sets, 20 miletary solar cell kit personnel, and 4 personnel from the Indonesian Police Div.

Furthermore, Argo said, the South Sulawesi Police were ordered to send a number of assistance, namely 136 Brimob personnel, 15 medical teams and a DVI team.

"Vehicles, ambulances and all SAR equipment were also deployed," he said.

Meanwhile, the Central Sulawesi Regional Police deployed 30 Brimob personnel and several medical teams to help residents affected by the earthquake.

This assistance, said Argo, would later be coordinated with the Regional Police of West Sulawesi who knew which points were affected by the earthquake.

"Aid has begun to be deployed today, both by land and air," he said.

Previously, an earthquake measuring magnitude 6.2 rocked West Sulawesi. As a result of this earthquake, tens of people were reported died, hundreds were injured and thousands of people were displaced.
