Subsequent Landslides Are Still Potential On The Southern Route Across Bandung-Garut, Motorists Are Asked To Use Alternative Roads
JAKARTA - The southern route across the Bandung-Garut Regency in Talegong District, Garut Regency, West Java, cannot be used or passed by vehicles. This is following the landslide that hit the region.
Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit AKP Asep Nugraha said the road conditions in the southern area of Garut could not be used after a week of landslides. For the time being, motorists or road users can choose an alternative route.
"It can be passed but worried that there will be further landslides, so it will be diverted through the sub-district road," he said in Garut.
He conveyed that road users from the direction of Cisewu, Garut Regency to Pangalengan, Bandung Regency were diverted to an alternative route which was considered safe for vehicles to pass.
People who use roads are advised to be careful when passing the southern route of GarutJALUR because the area still has the potential to experience landslides.
"The land contour there is unstable, while the rainfall is high, so please be careful," said Asep.
Head of the Prevention and Preparedness Division at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Garut Regency, Tubagus Agus Sofyan, added that since the rainy season landslides have occurred several times on the provincial roads.
Finally, he said, landslides damaged the bridge around Curug Ceret, Talegong District, Saturday, January 9 and disrupted the flow of vehicle traffic from two directions.
"For the time being the provincial roads cannot be passed, because the bridge is still being repaired by the West Java Provincial PUPR Service," he said.
