Lebaran 2023, AP II Records Extra Flight Demand Reaches 1,016 Flights

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) noted that it had received 1,016 requests for additional assistance or extra flights from a number of airlines during the Eid 2023 transportation period.

"Until today, we have received a request for an extra flight plan for Eid transportation of approximately 1,016 flights. So it is quite large," said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin, in a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Monday, April 10.

Awaluddin said the request for additional flights was divided into two types of flights. He said, for domestic flights, the demand recorded was 854 extra flights.

"Especially for international 58 extra flights. Besides the movement of people celebrating Eid leave, there are also people who use it for holidays," he explained.

Furthermore, Awaluddin said that his party also recorded an increase in extra fligt demand outside Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta). One of them is in Bandung.

"We noted that outside Soetta Airport, how many flights there was an extra flight spike in Bandung, Pekanbaru, and Palembang, there were approximately 104 extra flights. The total extra flight that we have recorded will dynamically move to observe Eid al-Fitr homecoming activities," he said.

Awaluddin said the number of movements of travelers using air or aircraft transportation modes through 20 AP II airports this year reached 5.25 million people.

"The total movement of aircraft in the D-10 to D+10 period, we estimate approximately 36,000 aircraft movements, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2022 or Eid 2022 transportation. And passengers are around 5.25 million passengers or an increase of 24 percent compared to Eid 2022 transportation," he explained.
