Solo Album Bassis System Of A Down Shows Jonathan Davis
JAKARTA - In an interview with Radioactive MikeZ, program host 96.7 KCAL-FM Wired In The Empire, System Of A bassist Shavo Odadjian spoke in more detail about his upcoming debut solo album.
The 48-year-old Armenian-American musician is working on a full album with Winds Of Plague guitarist Michael Montoya (alia MorgothBeatz) - producer and songwriter who has previously collaborated with Travis Barker, JuiceWrld, Lil Xan, Jonathan Davis, Issues and many more.
"I started this solo project with MorgothBeatz; he is my producer and he is also a guitar player for the group," said the musician who was born under the name Shavarsh Odadjian.
"And it's 'I'm really', but it's tough. I'm back to my roots - not hip-hop. I think this is the toughest album I've ever made, and it just flows from me.
"We have it together - I'll say it - Jonathan Davis [from KORN]," said Shavo. "I'm working on that one right now. We have the chorus and the first verse, and I'm going to do a little bit of details, and I think we've got it. That's 12 - number 12. So we have 12 songs for solo recordings. I'm really excited about that."
Regarding the writing and recording process for his solo album, Shavo said: "I recorded bass and guitar. And then I recorded the drums that are currently programmed, but I will have live drummers to record... And that sounds crazy. I swear, I wouldn't even talk about it if I didn't really trust him.
"I came in, [MorgothBeatz] played the rhythm, and I just wrote," he explained. "And then we recorded everything I wrote, and then we combined it and it became something. And it was really cool. It's a cool artistic freedom that I experienced in the studio."
As for the possible release date for his solo album, Shavo said: "I'm thinking later this year, or early next year," he concluded.
