Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: Cisumdawu Toll Road Operates Functionally During Eid Al-Fitr 2023 Homecoming
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Cileunyi Toll Road was still operating functionally during the 2023 Eid homecoming because it considered safety aspects for travelers who passed the route.
"So, to our brothers and sisters who will go home from Bandung to Cipali via the Cisumdawu toll road, with permission from the Minister of PUPR, they can only be operated from noon to evening at 15.00 WIB," said the Minister of Transportation, quoted from an official statement, quoted from Antara, Monday, April 10.
The Cisumdawu toll road section 4, 5, and 6 from Cimalaka to Dawuan will operate functionally during the Lebaran 2023 homecoming period. The toll road will operate limited from noon to evening at 15.00 WIB.
The Minister of Transportation together with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and the Head of Traffic Police, Inspector General of Police Firman Shantyabudi, accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy to check the condition of the Cisumdawu Toll Road section 4, 5, and 6 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Minister Basuki explained that the traffic arrangement for the Cisumdawu Toll Road when it is opened functionally will fully follow the direction of the Korlantas Polri.
"Whether contra flow, one way or open-close will be applied, all of them follow the direction of the Korlantas Polri according to conditions in the field with the simulations that have been prepared," said Basuki.
After being opened functionally for the 2023 Lebaran homecoming, Basuki targets all Cisumdawu toll roads to be completed and fully operational by the end of May 2023.
"By May 2023, all operational sections in Cisumdawu will be at the latest, as well as to support the operation of Kertajati Airport," he said.
Meanwhile, Kakorlantas said that the Cisumdawu toll road, which has just been completed for sections 4, 5, and 6 on April 15, 2023, is still not possible if it is fully operationalized during the 2023 Eid homecoming period.
"Information from the field that the area is still foggy. It's also risky, drivers and we don't expect them to be trapped at night, while we are still busy with spikes in the Cipali Toll Road which is quite heavy according to our predictions," he said.
Previously, the Cisumdawu toll road section 1, 2, and 3 starting from Cileunyi-Jatinangor-Sumedang-Cimalaka has been completed and supports the smooth flow of vehicles during the Christmas and New Year 2023 holidays.
With the completion of the Cisumdawu Toll Road section 4, 5, and 6, the Cisumdawu Toll Road has a total length of about 65 kilometers (km). The presence of the toll road will facilitate public access from Bandung and its surroundings to Kertajati Airport or vice versa with a travel time of only 1 hour.
After checking the Cisumdawu Toll Road, the group continued to inspect to check the repair of roads, additional lanes, and the construction of rest area facilities on the Cipali Toll Road which are still in the process.
It is targeted that the construction will be completed before the homecoming flow so that it can help smooth the flow of homecoming and back to Lebaran 2023 which is predicted to experience a high surge in vehicle movements.
