Significant Growth In The Number Of Airplane And Ship Passengers In East Kalimantan In Early 2023

SAMARINDA - The number of airplane passengers and ships in East Kalimantan Province increased by 48.76 percent in January-February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, consisting of passengers on the plane rising 42.75 percent and ship passengers rising 54.78 percent.

"The number of domestic air transport (airplane) passengers in East Kalimantan in January-February this year is 380,066 people," said Head of the Central Statistics Distribution Team (BPS) of East Kalimantan Province, Marinda Dama Prianto in Samarinda, Friday.

Meanwhile, the number of air transportation passengers for the January - February 2022 period was 266,249 people, meaning there was an additional 113,813 passengers, an increase of 42.75 percent.

The number of passengers as many as 380,066 people came from six airports, namely Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan in January-February 2023 as many as 303,966 passengers, an increase of 53.70 percent compared to January-February 2022 which recorded 197,768 people.

Then from Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Airport (APT) Pranoto Samarinda as many as 49,545 passengers, decreased 4.52 percent compared to January-February 2022 which was 51,888 passengers.

Next, there were 24,836 passengers departing from Kalimarau Airport, Berau Regency, an increase of 62.15 percent compared to January-February 2022, which recorded 15,317 passengers.

Meanwhile, the number of sea transportation passengers who rose 54.78 percent was in January-February 2022 as many as 39,683 people, up to 61,422 people in January-February 2023.

This number of passengers came from three ports, namely Semayang Port Balikpapan in January-February 2022 as many as 19,911 passengers, to 40,814 passengers in January-February 2023, an increase of 104.98 percent.

Then there were 16,347 passengers departing from Samarinda Port in Samarinda City in January-February 2022, to 14,849 people in January-February 2023, or down by 9.16 percent.
