KPK Confiscates Evidence Of Money During OTT Of Meranti Regent
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) team also confiscated money as evidence in the Meranti Islands Regent Muhammad Adil's hand arrest operation (OTT) along with dozens of Meranti Islands Regency Government officials (Pemkab).
Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, said that there was no definite calculation of the value of the money confiscated by the anti-corruption agency.
"For evidence of temporary money, we make sure the team also secures it. The amount is still being calculated and confirmed to several parties who have been arrested," Ali told reporters, Friday, April 7.
However, Ali emphasized, the amount of large or small money is not the main thing in proving the element of corruption.
"A little or a lot of it is the same as a corruption act, even accepting an appointment if there is a transaction related to the abuse of office as an organizer that has been categorized as a criminal act of corruption," he continued.
The KPK brought the regent for the period 2021-2024 and dozens of officials from the Meranti Islands Regency Government to Jakarta from the location of the arrest this morning. The private parties involved were also arrested by the KPK.
"The KPK team immediately took him to Jakarta for an examination at the KPK's Red and White Building this morning. The information was temporarily scheduled from the crime scene at around 10 o'clock," Ali explained.
Furthermore, Ali has not detailed what corruption cases ensnared Adil and a number of people who were arrested. Ali said that currently the anti-corruption agency is still gathering further information.
"Currently the KPK team is still working. We continue to collect information from several parties," said Ali.
