JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic inevitably makes Indonesia supply vaccines from abroad to deal with the impact of this outbreak. Apart from China, it is known that a number of countries have already supplied various types of vaccines to the country.

Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suhariyanto said there were five countries that were Indonesia's mainstay for getting vaccines, namely China, Hong Kong, the United States, Belgium and France.

"But with a note that the imported vaccines are combined, so it is not only the vaccines that are intended for handling COVID-19," he said in a virtual press conference, Friday, January 15.

In the BPS data collection, vaccines are included in health goods with the HS code 300332090. On this occasion, Hariyanto also explained about the development of export and import activities during the period from January to December 2020.

It was stated that Indonesia had successfully recorded a positive performance in international trade with a record surplus of US $ 21.71 billion. Head of BPS Suhariyanto said the book was the highest since 2011.

"Overall, the increase in our exports occurred due to high volume and commodity prices, this has resulted in excellent export performance in 2020," he said

Dian further explained that the value of Indonesia's exports in December 2020 reached 16.54 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.39 percent compared to exports in November 2020. Likewise, compared to December 2019, it increased by 14.63 percent.
