Barcelona Lost To Real Madrid For Failing To 'Kill' First

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, had a bitter night after his team played El Clasico in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals. In the match against Real Madrid, the Blaugrana were crushed with a score of 0-4.

The defeat at the Camp Nou Stadium made it certain that Barcelona failed to advance to the final round. They died after losing 4-1 on aggregate after winning 1-0 in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Xavi was of course devastated by a big defeat at his own headquarters, but was not surprised that El Real was able to qualify for the Copa del Rey final. Because Xavi had issued a surprising statement before the match by winning Real Madrid more.

"I already said yesterday that Madrid are favorites," Xavi said after losing 4-0 to Real Madrid quoted from Livescore.com on Thursday 6 April.

Regarding the defeat of the Blaugrana at home, Xavi tried to explain the reason his team lost to Madrid. Xavi assessed that Barcelona were unable to kill Real Madrid by scoring first in the first half.

Xavi also explained that Real Madrid is a team that usually plays under pressure and gets up with their heads held high. This was revealed by Xavi based on his experience when he was still a player.

"We cannot argue that they (Real Madid) are a great team. They are champions of the Spanish League and Champions League (last season) and they did not forgive (the defeat of the first leg)," Xavi explained.

"When you don't kill Madrid, they will kill you," added the former Al Sadd coach.

After losing and being knocked out in the Copa del rey, the Blaugrana was clearly hit. However, Xavi did not want his team to be late in the moment of sadness.

He wants his team to fully focus on the Spanish La Liga title this season. Nearby, Barca will play for Girona on Tuesday next week. Victory is certainly the main target.

"We had a very bad second half, but we have to get up. Tomorrow we will rise with all the hope of defeating Girona," he said.

"This is a difficult result, but we have to focus on the Spanish League," continued Xavi.
