Rob Marshall Confirms Discussion With Harry Styles For The Little Mermaid
JAKARTA - The live action for The Little Mermaid continues to be a public conversation. Not a few debated who they wanted to be Prince Eric after Halle Bailey was elected Ariel.
Many say Harry Styles may match his character and director of The Little Mermaid, Rob Marshall confirmed that he had met the singer. But the meeting didn't make Styles Prince Eric.
"We met him (Harry Styles). He was a nice guy. But in the end, he wanted to do the film he wanted to do, which was a bit darker," Rob Marshall said in a recent interview with EW.
In addition, Marshall also sees Harry Styles, who has been a singer for a long time, looking for a different direction in acting.
"That's why he's looking for something that's not a musical genre, to develop his side," Marshall said.
"It was an interesting idea but in the end I always thought something happened for a reason. I am very happy with the two young players in the film," he continued.
Prince Eric's role was obtained by hauer-King's impressive audition. Marshall was amazed by King's acting when he first appeared.
I'm always looking for someone who is connected to that part. Suddenly the words that come out of his mouth feel real. You definitely believe the person," said Rob Marshall.
The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel, the youngest son of the King of Triton, the ruler of the Atlantica. Ariel is amazed by the human world and falls in love with Prince Eric after saving him from a ship accident.
Ariel then determined to meet Prince Eric in the world on the water. Ariel's desire to bring conflict between himself and his father and the grip of the sea witch Ursula.
The film The Little Mermaid will hit theaters on May 26.
