Commission VII DPR Will Summon Pertamina's Managing Director In The Aftermath Of The Dumai Refinery Fire

JAKARTA - Commission VII of the DPR RI will summon the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) and his staff for the burning incident of Pertamina's Dumai Refinery on Saturday, April 1.

"We will summon Pertamina's directors for a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII on Tuesday at 11 a.m. tomorrow (April 4)," said Eddy to VOI, Monday, April 3.

Eddy said, through the summons of the Pertamina board of directors, Commission VII wanted to ensure that the safety procedures for the implementation of the safety check were carried out properly.

"And all parties who have the function of operating equipment technically have good skills and have a good evaluation monitoring process and this must be carried out consistently," continued Eddy.

Eddy also responded to Pertamina's plan to form a new directorate to support the work safety and health system or Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE).

He argues that the formation of a new directorate does not immediately reduce the accident rate, but only transfers responsibility from one directorate to another.

"It will not reduce the number of accidents if the safety and standard health are not implemented properly. There must be good implementation technology and consequences," explained Eddy.

He urged Pertamina to immediately conduct safety audits at various refinery locations throughout Indonesia.

Eddy also asked Pertamina not to argue about the explosion and fire in Dumai which was claimed to be resolved quickly.

Fooding is important fast, but the question is why did an explosion occur? Who was negligent or what system didn't work until it exploded? This must be found immediately so that it doesn't happen to other Pertamina refineries and depots," he continued.
