Lion Air Doesn't Allow 20 Kilograms Of Bags In These 8 Destinations, Check The List

JAKARTA - Lion Air made adjustments regarding free baggage categories recorded (registered) to 15 kg, from the previous 20 kg. This adjustment is specifically for routes to and from eight destinations in eastern Indonesia.

Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro said the baggage adjustment took effect from April 1, 2023.

"The policy of adjusting the total free baggage to 15 kg can have an impact on the movement of commodities and MSME products from and to eastern Indonesia," he said in a press release, quoted Monday, April 3.

Meanwhile, Danang detailed that the eight routes that experienced free baggage adjustments included:

1. Pattimura Airport, Ambon, Maluku (AMQ)2. Sultan Babullah Airport, Ternate, North Maluku (TTE)3. Dominie Eduard Osok Airport, Sorong, West Papua (SOQ)4. Rendani Airport, Manokwari, West Papua (MKW)5. Mozes Airport Kilangin Timika, Mimika, Central Papua (TIM)6. Bandar Frans Kaisiepo, Biak, Biak Numfor, Papua (BIK)7. Sentani Airport, Jayapura, Papua (DJJ)8. Mopah Airport Merauke, South Papua (MKQ)

Danang said, adjustments apply to the terms of purchasing Lion Air (issued tickets) tickets on April 1, 2023 and the flight period starts April 1, 2023.

"If the prospective passenger buys a ticket before April 1, 2023 and departs on April 1, 2023, he still gets 20kg free baggage," he said.

He added, if prospective passengers have continued flights (connecting flights or transits) covering from and destinations of eight destinations, they still refer to the largest free baggage after being compared to the two or more airlines and the routes used (passing).

For example, on departure Thursday, April 13, for Lion Air Jakarta flights to Makassar (get a trunk of 20 kg), then Makassar continued to Merauke (get a trunk of 15 kg). Thus, Lion Air passengers on the Jakarta route to Makassar will receive the largest free baggage between the two route sectors.

"So, prospective passengers get 20 kg in the Jakarta-Makassar-Merauke sector," he explained.

Likewise, with departures on transit flights, combination Lion Air and Batik Air. For example, Batik Air from Jakarta to Makassar (20kg), then Lion Air Makassar to Merauke (15kg).

So, passengers have the largest free baggage recorded between the two route sectors, namely prospective passengers getting 20 kg for the Jakarta-Makassar 'Merauke route.

Danang appealed to prospective passengers not to worry about this adjustment. Because, for those who order domestic flight tickets for Saturday, April 1 and after, and want to add a baggage quota, they can still buy a maximum 30 kg pre-paid baggage when ordering tickets.

"Prospective passengers who have not ordered a baggage quota and want to increase the baggage quota, can buy at the check-in counter or customer service center at the airport," he concluded.
