Profit Increases 15.5 Percent In 2022, Semen Indonesia Increases Sustainable Business

JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SMGR) recorded a positive performance amid the increasingly challenging dynamics of the cement industry. Especially the increasing number of competitors.

General Manager of Corporate Communication SIG Arif Gunawan Sulistiyono said the positive performance can be seen from GIS's profit attributable to owners of the parent entity in 2022 of IDR 2.365 trillion.

Compared to the period in 2021 of IDR 2.047 trillion, there was an increase of 15.5 percent so that the company was committed to continuing to develop by implementing the sustainable principle armed with this positive performance.

He admitted that market pressure was still quite heavy, such as in Central Java and East Java, while for Kalimantan it was getting better along with the Nusantara State Capital (IKN) project in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan.

However, Arif remains optimistic, especially since SIG has six strong cement brands and is the market leader in each region, including Semen Gresik, Semen Padang, Semen Tonasa, Dynamix, Semen Andalas.

Also, Semen Baturaja, which has become part of the GIS, complements the "footprint" of GIS in Sumatra, especially the Southern part. This brings GIS as the leader of the national cement market with a portion of around 50 percent.

Arif said that GIS as a building material solution provider company in Indonesia has contributed to the community in infrastructure development through its various innovations.

"In sustainable infrastructure development, we are no longer talking about the construction aspect, but how ideal a construction can survive with environmentally friendly raw materials and minimal carbon emissions," he said, quoting Antara.

In Indonesia, GIS plays a role behind the globally recognized iconic building construction, including the integrated development complex on Jalan MH Thamrin Jakarta which uses the PowderPro product.

Then, the revitalization of the Gelora Bung Karno pedestrian area, Jakarta, has applied the ThruCrete product which is able to absorb water directly to the ground in pedestrian path areas and jogging lines.

Also, the reconstruction of a concrete road on Jalan Raya Karangawen, Semarang-Godong, Central Java, with rapidly dry concrete or SpeedCrete, which is being worked on faster to reduce the potential impact of congestion.

In addition, said Arif, SIG continues to strive to present building and construction materials solutions with products and services that continue to prioritize environmental aspects, by focusing on developing innovations to answer challenges and provide solutions.

Efforts to reduce carbon dioxide or decarbonization emissions are carried out by reducing the emission rate from the use of primary energy and electrical energy.

Several initiatives have been carried out, including the use of Kaliandra wood-based biomass which is run at PT Semen Padang, utilization of industrial and household waste-based biomass as energy at the PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk facility, to the use of solar energy at the Tuban factory.
