Shin Tae-yong's Overflow Of Heartache After FIFA Strikes Indonesia As Host Of The U-20 World Cup: My Preparations Are 3 Years And 6 Months
JAKARTA The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong really felt hurt after FIFA crossed out Indonesia as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
The South Korean tactician finally opened his voice after more than a dozen hours of silence after FIFA made an official announcement, Wednesday, March 29 evening WIB.
"First, I was really hurt. I myself was very tired. So, I can feel how tired the players are. Moreover, my preparation is 3 years and 6 months," he said at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, March 30.
In an official statement on their website FIFA revealed the reason for Indonesia's deletion was due to the "current situation". However, the close deletion of his relationship with the wave of rejection of the Israeli team continues to strengthen.
Shin said that the loss of Indonesia's opportunity to host the age group event was clearly a big loss, especially the dreams of young players who had to be lost.
"I really know that the World Cup in the country will certainly bring extraordinary developments. Especially for the development of Indonesian football, but it cannot be held. It is very unfortunate," said Shin.
"Moreover, to the point of losing the hopes and dreams of the players. So actually no longer able to say anything," he added.
Shin himself could not confirm his future after Indonesia failed to host the U-20 World Cup. Moreover, the 52-year-old tactician was brought in with the aim of leading Indonesia for the event.
"Honestly I can't answer because nothing has been discussed about the extension of the contract," said Shin.
FIFA has so far not announced the name of a new country to replace Indonesia. Argentina is still a favorite to host the biennial event.
