PT PP Hopes That The Makassar-Parepare Railway Line Will Move The Wheel Of The National Economy
JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) through its entity PT Celebess Railway Indonesia (CRI) hopes that the Makassar-Parepare Railway construction project can have an impact on accelerating national economic growth.
"In addition, it can also improve the welfare of the Indonesian people, especially the people in South Sulawesi Province," said PT PP (Persero) President Director Novel Arsyad quoting Antara, Thursday, March 30.
The railway infrastructure construction project was inaugurated directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, which was symbolically marked through the process of withdrawing the railroad lever and signing the inscription.
CRI, which was founded in 2019, is one of the interesting investment portfolios owned by PT PP. CRI is a company association entity engaged in the business of organizing railway infrastructure.
The Makassar Parepare train as a whole has a 142 kilometer rail track and consists of 14 train stations.
CRI plays a role in developing a 16.3 kilometer rail track. To date, CRI has managed a 77 kilometer railroad track along with 7 train stations that have been operating since October 2022.
Apart from being an investor, the company also acts as a contractor in the construction of the Maros Station Depot and the construction of the Makassar Parepare General Railway In the F segment of Tonasa and the Garongkong emplicam with integrated areas.
The total construction of the train track carried out by PT PP is 16.3 kilometers long, consisting of Garongkong Station to a new 4.6 kilometer station and from Labukang Station to Mangilu Station along 11.7 kilometers.
"The construction of the Maros Station Depot and Railway Infrastructure was successfully completed by the company in a timely manner with good quality," said Novel.
The line construction project is the first rail construction project in Indonesia to use the KPBU scheme between the Ministry of Transportation and CRI, as well as using a service availability payment scheme.
The railway line can immediately operate to serve South Sulawesi Province which includes 5 regencies or cities, namely Maros Regency, Pangkajene Regency and Islands, Barru Regency, Makassar City, and Parepare City. The Makassar Parepare Railway will act as a means of transportation to support demand for passenger transportation and freight transfer as well as build national connectivity.
The presence of the Makassar Parepare Train also encourages economic growth in South Sulawesi Province where there is an increase in GDP, absorption of local labor, efficiency of travel time, potential passenger transportation and the potential for freight transportation, as well as supporting the development of MSMEs in the area.
