Speaking With Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Chinese President Xi Jinping Supports The Recovery Of Saudi-Iran Arabian Relations

JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping supported Saudi Arabia's continued talks with Iran during a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, in addition to discussing various topics related to Beijing's relations with Riyadh.

"During the phone call, they emphasized the importance of strategic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China," the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a post on Twitter, as quoted March 28.

"The Crown Prince expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia for China's initiative to support the development of good neighboring relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran," the tweet continued.

"Meanwhile, the President of China praised Saudi Arabia's role in promoting the development of its country's relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Middle East countries," the ministry said.

Furthermore, the two leaders emphasized the importance of strategic relations between Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of oil, and China's economic power center, the main trading partner of Gulf countries, as reported by Reuters.

Meanwhile, President Xi said the two countries would firmly support each other on issues involving their respective core interests, providing more contribution to promoting peace, stability and development in the Middle East, according to state media reports.

Citing China Daily, President Xi said China is ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia to implement the results of its state visit to Saudi Arabia, the first China-Arab Summit and the China-Cold Cooperation Council summit last year.

It is known that President Xi recently helped mediate a surprising deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia earlier this month to restore diplomatic relations, in a growing Chinese influence show.
