Kapuas Regent And His Wife Allegedly Using SKPD And Bribe Money When Joining Political Contestation

JAKARTA - Kapuas Regent Ben Brahim S. Bahat and his wife who are members of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III Ary Egahni are suspected of receiving money from the Regional Apparatus Work Unit (SKPD) as well as the private sector. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that they used the acceptance for political contestation. "The facilities and a sum of money received were then used by BBSB, among others, for operations when participating in the Kapuas Regent election, the election of the Governor of Central Kalimantan included for the participation of AE who is the wife of BBSB in the legislative election in 2019," said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 28. In addition, Johanis also revealed that there was a bribe receipt from a private party by Ben regarding the permit for plantation locations in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. The money received is suspected to reach Rp8.7 billion. "The money received is suspected to reach Rp8.7 billion. Among other things is also used to pay for two national survey institutions," he stressed. Then, Ben also has a request for private parties who will take care of the permit for plantation locations in Kapuas Regency. "To prepare a number of masses while participating in the election of the Kapuas Regent, the election of the Governor of Central Kalimantan, and AE while advancing in the selection of members of the DPR RI," Johanis explained. In this regard, Asep Guntur's Investigation Director said that the use of money for the political needs of these two suspects would be traced. It is known, Ben is a regional head originating from the Golkar Party while Ary is a NasDem Party cadre. "Of course, related to the money resulting from this corruption crime was obtained from which, what use will be investigated," said Asep. Previously, the KPK officially detained Ben and Ary for the first 20 days at the KPK's Red and White Building. This detention can be extended according to the needs of investigators. As a result of their actions, both were suspected of violating Article 12 letter f and Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
