Police Predicts 123.8 Million People Will Return Home During Eid 2023
JAKARTA - The National Police predicts an increase in the number of people going home during Lebaran 2023 when compared to the previous year. The total reached 123.8 million people. The prediction is based on survey data conducted by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub)."It is predicted that the movement of people in the 2023 Eid homecoming will reach 123.8 million people who will go home. And this is when compared to 2022, it will increase by 14.2 percent," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Tuesday, March 28.The percentage increase was due to data on the number of travelers which recorded 85.5 million people returning to their respective hometowns during Eid al-Fitr 2022.Then, the prediction of increasing the number of travelers is due to several things. One of them is the revocation of the status of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).Then, there are also other factors such as increasing the economic value of the community to the absence of restrictions or travel bans in Indonesia."At the end of 2022, the President has officially discussed the revocation of PPKM in Indonesian territory," said Dedi. With the prediction of this increase, the National Police, especially the Traffic Corps (Korlantas), have prepared several schemes to unravel congestion when the homecoming flows occur.
