Miguel Oliveira Following Marc Marquez, Joining Absen In MotoGP Argentina

JAKARTA - RNF Aprilia racer Miguel Oliveira has been ruled out of the second MotoGP 2023 series which will take place in Argentina on Sunday, April 2. He was reported to have suffered a serious injury after being hit by Marc Marquez at the Portuguese MotoGP, last weekend.

The condition of the Portuguese racer did not allow him to take part in the race to be held at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit, Argentina, as reported by the official MotoGP website.

"The MotoGP rider, Miguel Oliveira will not participate in the upcoming Argentine Grand Prix due to a recent injury," the official MotoGP statement was quoted as saying on Tuesday, March 28.

The statement also said that as a result of the accident, Miguel Oliveira had to undergo further examinations in his country. The result stated that the rider could not continue his appearance in the second series later.

"Following his accident at the Portuguese Grand Prix, Oliveira underwent further testing in his hometown, where further damage was revealed and did not allow him to start the second GP of the season," continued the MotoGP statement.

Miguel Oliveira's injury resulted from an incident on the third lap of the Portuguese MotoGP. At that time Oliveria was suddenly hit by Marquez from behind. The two drivers came off the track and were dragged into the Gravel.

After the collision, Marquez got out of the motorbike but Oliveira looked in pain and had difficulty getting up. In fact, he had to be carried off the circuit.

In his personal Instagram account, Miguel Oliveira explained that his leg had problems after being hit by the Repsol Honda rider.

"A tendon injury was found in the external rotator of the right leg, which not only prevented me from walking, but also for riding a motorcycle and when turning. It was an inoperable injury and only a break helped recovery. For this reason, I will not be present at the Argentine GP," Miguel Oliveira said on his Instagram account.
