Former Bukit Tinggi Police Chief Sueded For 20 Years In Prison In Drug Case Inspector General Teddy Minahasa

JAKARTA - Former Bukit Tinggi Police Chief AKBP Dody Prawiranegara was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a drug trafficking case. The Public Prosecutor (JPU) believes the defendant is guilty of being involved in Inspector General Teddy Minahasa's network.

"The defendant Dody Prawiranegara has been sentenced to 20 years in prison," said the prosecutor during a trial at the West Jakarta District Court (Jakbar), Monday, February 27.

Not only a prison sentence, but AKBP Dody was also charged with a fine of Rp. 2 billion, a subsidiary of 6 months.

In formulating these demands, the prosecutor has aggravating considerations. Starting from his involvement in the act of distributing to tarnishing the good name of the Polri institution.

"The defendant has exchanged and became an intermediary in the sale and purchase of methamphetamine," said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, for mitigating considerations, AKBP Dody is considered to have acknowledged his actions. So, the prosecutor considered that the confession was a good thing.

"The defendant admitted and regretted his actions," said the prosecutor.

Thus, the prosecutor assessed that AKBP Dody Prawiranegara's actions fulfilled the elements of Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

In this case, Inspector General Teddy Minahasa is suspected of having ordered AKBP Dody Prawiranegara to set aside evidence of methamphetamine from the results of the disclosure of the case to be circulated.

The Bukit Tinggi Police initially wanted to destroy 40 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, but Inspector General Teddy Minahasa allegedly ordered to exchange five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine for tawas.

The methamphetamine was brought to Jakarta to be allegedly circulated again by involving Kasranto, Linda, Arif, and former member of the Muara Baru Police, Aiptu Janto Parluhut Situmorang.

However, the embezzlement of drug evidence was finally uncovered by a series of disclosures of narcotics cases by the Central Jakarta Metro Police and Polda Metro Jaya.

A total of 1.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine has been successfully circulated while the remaining 3.3 kilograms have been confiscated by officers.
