Anthony Joshua's Arrogance, Still Feels Like One Of The Best In Heavy Class
JAKARTA - British boxer Anthony Joshua claims he is still one of the best in the world boxing heavyweight class. He boasted ahead of the fight against Jermaine Franklin at the London Arena O2, Saturday, April 1.
Joshua began to doubt his capacity after losing twice in a row to Oleksandr Usyk. The defeat is believed to have made him no longer in the top three WBA, WBO, WBC or IBF rankings.
However, when asked who he thought was the best heavyweight, Joshua said, "Usyk, Tyson Fury, and myself."
He also included Deontay Wilder's name because the American boxer is a former champion.
"I rated. I've been in the top 10 for how many years? About eight years I've been in the top 10 so I rated them," he said.
"As long as I've been in the top 10, I'm happy but being there consistently isn't easy. It's all about who you're fighting too."
"The ranking is important but you also have to fight big names," he added.
Joshua then commented on the cancellation of the fight between Fury and Usyk. This highly anticipated duel was canceled due to unbalanced division.
Fury asked for a 70-30 share that made Usyk feel unappreciated.
"If he does 70-30 for the heavyweight champion, what will he try and offer me? It's just a nightmare," said Joshua.
He then satirized Fury's management, which he judged did not work well. Joshua admitted that he had a great promotional company in a row to help him.
"I didn't make all the decisions myself. They will negotiate hard to make sure I get the biggest part. I will leave it to them to do my best to represent me in the right way," he concluded.
