KPK Leaders Billed For Explanation Of Harun Masiku's Existence

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (OTT) operation that ensnared the General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan regarding the interim bribery (PAW) for members of the 2019-2024 DPR RI still remains a mystery. Not to mention, until now the suspect who gave the bribe in this case, namely the PDI-P candidate, Harun Masiku, is still at large and his whereabouts are unknown.

The case started on Wednesday, January 8. The KPK named four people as suspects in a bribery case related to the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the 2019-2024 DPR RI during the election. The four are PDIP candidate Harun Masiku; KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan; former Bawaslu member as well as Wahyu's confidant; Agustiani Tio Fridelina; and Saeful who is a private party.

Among the four suspects, only Harun Masiku has not yet surrendered to the KPK. According to the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Harun left Indonesia and went to Singapore on January 6, or two days before the KPK's silent operation.

It's just that, recently the immigration authorities corrected the statement. The Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ronny Sompie, was removed from his position, because he reported that Harun was back in Indonesia. Harun entered Indonesia on January 7, or the day before the KPK OTT took place and it is not known where his whereabouts.

Regarding this delay, Ronny argued that there was a delay in the information obtained by the Directorate General of Immigration from Soekarno-Hatta Airport and made the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yassona Laoly form an independent team.

This protracted process made the public wonder where Harun Masiku actually was. This question was also raised by the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) and the researcher, Kurnia Ramadhana, asked the KPK leadership to explain transparently about the search for the PDIP candidate for the South Sumatra Election I District.

"The KPK leadership must explain to the public the deadline for searching for Harun Masiku because this process has been protracted," said Kurnia to VOI via text message, Tuesday, February 11.

Forget the busy task of the handshake

Kurnia also highlighted that the current leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seems to have forgotten their task of finding Harun and solving various cases in his institution. According to him, the leadership of the Firli Bahuri era, cs, prefers to shake hands with other institutions but minus the prosecution is serious about looking for Harun.

"The leadership of the KPK is not even serious about handling this case, in fact, they go on safaris to several state institutions too often. Even the KPK chairman even shows a strange gimmick by cooking fried rice at critical times like this," said the anti-corruption activist.

It is known, Firli Bahuri cs often went on safari to several institutions. Finally, they visited the Indonesian Parliament to meet with the leaders, two of whom were litigants in their institutions. In fact, they had already made official visits to hearings long before this visit.

The two problematic leaders whom Firli cs met were Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin and Azis Syamsudin who were the Deputy Speaker of the DPR. Cak Imin is known to have been examined as a witness some time ago and is suspected of being involved in the alleged bribery case of the project at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Kemen PUPR) which ensnared the Director and Commissioner of PT Sharleen Raya (JECO Group), Hong Arta John Alfred.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman, Azis Syamsuddin, was reported by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Committee (KAKI) to an anti-corruption agency based on the statement made by the former Central Lampung Regent Mustafa. In his confession, Mustafa revealed that Azis Syamuddin had once asked for a fee of eight percent of the DAK amendment distribution in 2017.

Apart from going to the DPR, Firli is known to have met with the Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and met with other ministers on a visit which he called a gathering event.

Returning to the Harun Masiku issue, Kurnia also did not blame the public on the slow work of the KPK as evidence that the leadership was not serious about resolving the bribery case of the KPU commissioner.

"For example, referring to the failure of the KPK in sealing the PDIP office, the failure of the KPK leadership to explain what happened at PTIK, and about the PDIP DPP office which until now has not been searched by the KPK," he explained.

"It is not wrong if the public views the KPK leadership as not being serious in resolving this case," he added.

Firli who continues to argue about Harun

The chairman of the KPK for the period 2019-2024 Firli Bahuri has often answered the question of Harun Masiku's still fugitive. According to him, capturing Harun was not an easy matter.

The former South Sumatra Police Chief did not even dare to set a deadline to arrest the candidate. In fact, some time ago he thought looking for Aaron was like looking for a needle in the husk.

"Finding that person (Harun Masiku) is not easy, yes, it's the same as looking for a needle in the husk, okay," he told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday, January 27.

Firli claims, Harun will soon be caught because his men have searched various places that are suspected of being his hiding place. "Is it in Sulawesi, whether in South Sumatra, we have done everything but nothing, we have not caught it," he said.

It's just that, until this month there has been no bright spot on the fugitive's whereabouts. Harun's not yet arrested, was also responded to by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK in the field of prosecution Ali Fikri. According to him, the handling of the KPU commissioner's bribery case will not be disturbed even though Harun is still at large.

Because so far, KPK investigators have examined several witnesses, including PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and other KPU commissioners who are still active.

In addition, investigators are also said to have conducted searches in several places related to this case, including Wahyu's official residence in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, and Harun's apartment in Thamrin Residence. As a result, the team confiscated a number of documents related to the case.
