'Young' General Becomes A Candidate For National Police Chief, DPR RI: No Problem As Long As He Can Protect
JAKARTA - The 'young' general is again the number one candidate in the Indonesian National Police (Polri.) This time, it is Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo to be nominated for this strategic position.
Listyo graduated from the Police Academy in 1991. He is also listed as a graduate of the S-2 University of Indonesia.
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, said that there is a precedent regarding the Listyo generation in the Bhayangkara Corps being classified as young.
However, this will not be a problem as long as the person concerned is able to properly protect and manage the internal police.
"Apart from that, we can externally cooperate with partners and provide protection and protection to the community," said Azis in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 13.
According to Azis, Listyo is not the first young general at the helm of the National Police. Previously, there was the name Tito Karnavian who succeeded in leading the National Police. "It turns out that those concerned can protect and control management within the Police," explained Aziz.
Azis believes Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo will be professional in leading the Bhayangkara Corps and can protect the community.
"My message is, according to Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National Police, how to form the professionalism of the National Police in protecting and protecting the public proportionally and ideally," Azis said at the DPR RI complex, Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to him, an attitude of protecting and protecting the community proportionally and ideally is necessary so that the pros and cons of the nomination of Listyo Sigit can be answered with achievements. Azis assessed that Listyo Sigit's internal performance at the Police was above average, for example having occupied the position of Head of Bareskrim.
"Regarding track records, each party must have an assessment. If there are pros and cons, that's normal," he said.
The DPR RI received a Presidential Letter regarding the Name of the Candidate for Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia on behalf of Komjen Pol. The Presidential Decree numbered: R-02 / Pres / 01/2021 and was conveyed by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday.
