Israel To Vaccinate Children COVID-19 In Early March
JAKARTA - The Israeli government is targeting to start vaccinating COVID-19 children over the age of 12 in early March. This will be carried out by the owner of the policy after a study came out that said the vaccine was safe enough for children at that age.
The National Coordinator for Pandemic Israel Nachman Ash said that vaccinations for children would start as planned. This is because, in pharmacological studies conducted, the minimum age for vaccination can be reduced from 16 years to 12 years.
“The fact that children under the age of 16 cannot be vaccinated is certainly troubling. Moreover, in terms of the ability to achieve immunity in that age group, it is certainly quite capable, ”said Ash. "I think, in a month or two, there will be another group [of children aged> 12 years] that we can vaccinate," he added.
Previously, Israel's rapid vaccination efforts won worldwide recognition. The Israeli government revealed their fast action so that 5 million of its 9 million citizens can be given the COVID-19 vaccine. As a result, these efforts could reopen an economy that had been bad during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, in the process of vaccinating the elderly, medical personnel and workers in sectors with high risk of exposure have been given priority to get the COVID-19 vaccine. For this reason, the policy owner will control the distribution of vaccines so that they become more orderly.
So far Israel has confirmed 501,073 cases of COVID-19 transmission. Among them, there were 3,704 deaths.
