Worried, Russia Beware Of Potential Nuclear Attacks From The US, UK And France
JAKARTA - Russia says the United States, Britain, and France have formed "unitary fronts" against them. This makes Moscow now consider the potential nuclear attacks of the three NATO countries simultaneously.
The formation of the front is considered by Russia to aim "to cause a strategic defeat" to the country.
Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said their consideration was to decide the fate of the New START agreement. This was conveyed when he spoke at a meeting at the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow
He estimates the US, UK, and France could carry out a joint nuclear strike against Russia.
"In the current situation, we will consider that these countries are likely to join forces using their nuclear capabilities to attack Russia," Ryabkov said, as reported by Anadolu via Antara, Thursday, March 23.
Ryabkoy said Russia would not back down from its decision to suspend its participation in the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START). Even if Russia's concerns are considered due to US assistance to Ukraine in its attack on Russian strategic facilities are "clear" and this military location is shown in the START agreement.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin in February signed a law suspending Russia's participation in the only remaining arms control treaty with the US.
He said Moscow postponed the New START agreement due to Washington's further involvement in Ukraine's war.
Signed in 2010 and extended in 2021 for the next five years, the agreement aims to control and reduce the strategic nuclear power used by the US and Russia.
