Ruselli Lost, There Will Be No More Indonesian Women's Singles At The Thailand Open

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles player Ruselli Hartawan was stopped in the first round of the Yonex Thailand Open 2021 after facing the host's representative Supanida Katethong, Wednesday.

In the 39-minute match at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, Ruselli lost the straight game with a score of 14-21, 16-21.

The 23-year-old badger couldn't do much in the first game when facing attacks from Katethong. His opponents also collected points easily, while Ruselli often fell behind and eventually lost 14-21.

The second game is still in progress the same as the first game. Not much improvement was shown by Ruselli. The player from the Jaya Raya Jakarta club made a lot of mistakes which actually benefited his opponent.

Finally, Ruselli lost again in the second game with a closing score of 16-21.

Quoted by Antara from the BWF page, Ruselli and Katethong have met in three previous tournaments. From the three meetings, Ruselli bagged two victories over the Badminton Player of the White Elephant Country.

Apart from Ruselli, another Indonesian women's singles, namely Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, also stopped in the first round of Thailand Open 2021, Tuesday, January 12 after being beaten by South Korean player Sung Ji Hyun with a score of 21-15, 15-21, 14-21.

With Ruselli's defeat today, there will be no more Indonesian women's singles that will survive in the Super 1000 level tournament.
