NOFX Prepare New Album, Throw Linewleum Single Song Featuring A7X
JAKARTA - The legendary punk band from California, NOFX will release their 14th album titled Single Album. The album will arrive on February 26 through Fat Mike's label, Fat Wreck Chords.
Offering 10 new songs and recorded at Motor Studios in San Francisco with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Teenage Bottlerocket), this follow-up to First Ditch Effort (2016) is NOFX's most personal album for its members.
Originally intended to be a double record, the tracks on the Single Album were streamlined after the COVID-19 pandemic shattered NOFX's plans.
The official music video for the album's first single, Linewleum, featuring Avenged Sevenfold, can be seen below.
"I don't know why Linoleum (released in 1994) was a NOFX song that was covered by so many bands while NOFX's other songs barely got any attention," Fat Mike said in an official press release.
“So, one night I stayed up late until 4:00 am checking all the different versions on YouTube. Watching hundreds of bands from over 28 countries (mostly Indonesia) work on Linoleum is an experience that humbles me. So I decided to write a song that is a shoutout to everyone who learns those four chords and remembers the lyrics that don't rhyme. "
Mike later described Linewleum as "a song about not playing a non-hit song with a video about another band covering the song!".
"This is why I love writing punk rock songs. There are no rules!"
"Linoleum is not a single, no video, no radio playback, and most importantly, it doesn't even have a chorus !!! All popular songs have choruses! Perse ***!"
The following is the composition of the songs in the Single Album:
01. The Big Drag
02. I Love You More Than I Hate Me
03. Fuck Euphemism
04. Fish In A Gun Barrel
05. Birmingham
06. Linewleum
07. My Bro Cancervive Cancer
08. Grieve Soto
09. Doors And Fours
10. Your Last Resort
