Food Estate Development In Humbang Hasundutan, North Sumatra Speeded Up In April 2023
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) supports the development of Food Estate in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, as a food barn in Indonesia.
One of these infrastructure supports is the construction of the Pollung Herbal and Horticulture Technology Science Park Facility (TSTH2) as a research center to produce superior food commodity seeds.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said his party supports the development and management of a sustainable Food Estate to improve food security while at the same time supporting national economic recovery by providing jobs for the community.
The construction of the Herbal and Horticulture Technology Science Park in Humbang Hasundutan has been carried out by the North Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR in stages since 2021 and is targeted for completion on April 13.
"Food Estate is a directive from President Joko Widodo as a priority to safeguard the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and improve the welfare of the Indonesian people through national food security," Minister Basuki said in his official statement, quoted on Tuesday, March 21.
Currently, the construction progress is 96 percent with the construction achievements of several buildings in phase 1 which includes the Agricultural Research Building, Herbal I Research Building, 1 Smart Green House unit, 3 Screen House units, Agricultural Control House Building, 2 Employee Mess Building units, Research Utilities Building, Electricity Substation, Lab. IPA, Reservoir, Jaga House, Area Infrastructure, Mobile Fence, and Parts of Vegetation in the TSTH2 Area.
The budget for the construction of TSTH2 Pollung comes from the APBN worth IDR 90.44 billion with the implementing contractor PT Brantas Abipraya Persero and Construction Management by PT Yodya Karya-Harawana KSO. The construction of TSTH2 Pollung is carried out on an area of 15 Ha.
