Ahead Of Man City Vs Brighton, Guardiola Spreads Praise On The Opposing Manager
JAKARTA - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spreads praise for Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter ahead of the meeting of the two teams in the Week 18 Premier League match at the Etihad, Wednesday, January 13 local time (Thursday WIB).
"They are very fun to watch. Fun to analyze," said Guardiola in a pre-match press conference quoted by Antara from City's official website on Wednesday morning WIB.
"At the same time, when you see it, you are aware of their quality. Today I tell the players to set high standards to beat Brighton," he added.
Guardiola also asked his players to forget City's good record in the last six Premier League meetings against Brighton, which they have managed to win since 2017.
"Forget the results from the past. Brighton is better at everything now. They created more chances than they were under pressure, their only gap is a finish in the final third of the pitch," he said.
"I really like the work of Graham Potter. All the players on their team know what to do and they have the courage to appear anywhere," concluded Guardiola.
Guardiola confirmed that Sergio Aguero was still not ready to face Brighton because he had to undergo self-quarantine because he had contact with positive COVID-19 subjects.
Eric Garcia, Adrian Bernabe and Cole Palmer also experienced the same thing, while Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte were still injured.
City arrived at the match against Brighton with a streak of unbeaten streak in seven straight matches, of which the last three have resulted in victories.
City are currently in fifth place in the standings with a collection of 29 points and a chance to break into the top four if they beat Brighton.
