"In this week, distributors will again increase the supply of chilies so that it is certain that this stock of chilies is sufficient," said Head of the Babel Islands Province Industry Office Tarmin AB quoted by ANTARA, March 19. He stated that as much as 2.9 tons of chili stocks with details of 1.9 tons of large chili were spread over the warehouse of distributor Suhadi 0.7 tons, Dayat 0.4 tons Hamid 0.8 tons da Hypermart 0.006 tons. Meanwhile, the stock of 1 tonne of cayenne pepper is located in the warehouse H Awi 0.2 tons, Suhadi 0.5 tons, Dayat 0.3 tons and Hypermart 0.004 tons. "It is estimated that chili demand will increase until the first day of Ramadan fasting on Thursday (24/3)," he said. He stated that currently the price of chili in the Pangkalpinang Development Market is still stable. The price of curly red chilies is IDR 42,000 per kilogram, red cayennes of IDR 58.000 per kilogram and the price of green cayenne chilies of IDR 54,000 per kilogram. "Currently chili demand is still relatively normal and is expected to increase the day before Ramadan fasting," he said.
According to him, to meet the needs of this chili, distributors still rely on supplies from outside the region, because the local farmers' chili harvest is still lacking to meet the high consumption of people's chilies. "We hope that distributors and traders will continue to increase their supply, so that there will be no price spike that will burden the economy of the underprivileged in welcoming this fast," he said.
