Hammersonic Awards A Number Of Rock Musicians In The Country

JAKARTA - The first day of the Hammersonic Festival 2023 was also enlivened by awarding a number of rock artists in the country who were considered to have contributed their best work through the Hammersonic Awards at Carnaval Beach Ancol, Saturday.

The award for the latest newcomer, aka The New Beast category, was pinned to the dangerous quintet from Bandung, namely Strangers.

"Thank you to Hammersonic, Ravel Entertainment and all the metalheads here. Thank you for supporting us since March last year because we are only a year away. Thank you also to friends who support our music," said one of the Strangers personnel, Putra Pra Ramadhan who is also the drummer Burgerkill, quoting Antara.

Then the Best Single category 2020-2023 was given to the death metal unit from Mojokerto, namely Amorphati through the single Sacrament. Meanwhile, the Best Rock Performance category fell into the hands of Eka Annash and friends from The Brandals who attended specifically at the Hammersonic festival.

"Thank you Hammersonic. Even though we didn't perform, we got the trophy, yes. Hopefully next year we can perform at Hammersonic and thank you to all the fans who have continued to support until now," said vocalist of The Brandals, Eka Annash.

Meanwhile, at the Hammersonic Awards this time, the Death metal DeadSquad unit was privileged for winning two awards at once, namely the Best Album 2020-2023 category for the Chatarisis album and the Best Metal Performance category.

One special award is Legend/Lifetime Achievement which is pinned to Aries "True Megabenz" Tanto, who is none other than the guitarist and founder of the most dangerous metal hardcore band that Indonesia has ever had, Burgerkill.

"This award is for Aries Tanto Eben Burgerkill. A friend, friend, 'enemous' to me because every night he argues with him about all the bands or whatever. When he heard the news he died, I didn't really believe it. We just have to accept it, he's already there and happy," said Ravel Entertainment CEO, Ravel Donald Junardy.

The Hammersonic Awards curation process was carried out by the Hammersonic team in collaboration with Musikeras led by Mudya Mustam by referring to the combination of the quality of releases of recording works, stage actions, to other achievements or breakthroughs made over the past four years.
