Erick Thohir Is Considered The Most Potential NU Cadre To Advance As A Vice Presidential Candidate
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir is a leader figure who has a strong opportunity to run as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the upcoming 2024 election. As a cadre of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Erick Thohir succeeded in showing successful leadership during the passing of the Ministry of SOEs.
Ray Rangkuti, an Indonesian Madani Circle Political Observer (LIMA) said, Erick Thohir is now loved by various groups of people. He said, Erick Thohir's characteristics are easy to accept because the results of his work can be felt directly by the community.
"Erick Thohir can enter various community groups. Political Islam is not a problem, there is no problem with Islamic politics, there is no problem with modernist groups, in moderate groups there is no problem. So it can be accepted by all parties," Ray said in a written statement, Friday, March 12.
Erick Thohir's brilliant work, according to Ray, was even seen before he was appointed Minister of SOEs. Erick Thohir has shown the results of his great work when he successfully organized the Asian Games in 2018.
So it is not surprising that Erick Thohir has electability as a presidential candidate who is higher than other NU cadres or figures, such as the Governor of East Java (East Java) Khofifah Indar Parawansa and the Chairman of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar.
Based on the results of a recent survey from the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) for the period 1-7 March 2023, Erick Thohir has an electability of 9.5 percent. Meanwhile, Khofifah Indar Parawansa only got 1.9 percent and Muhaimin Iskandar 1.3 percent.
Therefore, Ray sees Erick Thohir as a piece needed by a potential presidential candidate (candidate) such as the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo. The second duet is considered to be bringing victory in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
"Ganjar Pranowo is moderately nationalist, Erick Thohir still has a religious religion as a citizen," said Ray.
