The National Police Chief Asked To Step In To Handle The Democracy Cut, Kombes Rizal Irawan
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was asked to intervene to investigate the reduction of Kombes Rizal Irawan's demonstration by the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Gatot Edy Pramono. The request was conveyed by the attorney for the victim of extortion related to Richard Mille's luxury watch fraud report, Heroe Waskito.
"The National Police Chief cannot be silent because the people around him are trying to undermine the image of the police," Heroe told reporters, Saturday, March 19.
Heroe highlighted that Rizal was actually proven guilty of extortion and had been sentenced to five years in the Police ethics trial in February 2021. However, this sentence was actually lightened by the Deputy Chief of Police, causing disappointment.
"How come people are found guilty, they have been proven to have extorted billions of rupiah but have been given leniency. Is this not insulting to the National Police institution?" he said.
The National Police Chief was reminded not to ignore this request. Moreover, this reduction in demotion was only given to Rizal but not to Kompol Agus Teguh.
"How come Rizal Irawan, who was proven to have committed a crime, actually reduced his sentence from 5 years to a year by the Deputy Chief of Police, Gatot, while Teguh did not. What is this conspiracy," asked Heroe.
In fact, the two members of the Bhayangkara Corps were both proven to have blackmailed Heroe's client, Tony Sutrisno when reporting the fraud he experienced. "If Pak Sigit is silent, then the improvement of the image of the Police is in vain," he said.
The reduction in this demonstration has also attracted the attention of a member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the Democratic Party faction Hinca Panjaitan. He assessed that the Deputy Chief of Police must explain the reasons for the levy of punishment for Kombes Rizal Irawan.
"The Deputy Chief of Police must explain to the public why and why," said Hinca.
Previously, Rizal and several of his colleagues at Bareskrim Polri were proven to have blackmailed Tony Sutrisno, who at that time complained about the fraud case of a luxury watch embezzled by Richard Mille's boutique in Jakarta.
Tony bought two Richard Mille watches amounting to Rp77 billion. However, this watch was never accepted by him.
Tony's complaint to Bareskrim was then used by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Kompol Agus Teguh, by asking for Rp3.7 billion along with the lure that Tony's case would be resolved soon.
After that, the bribe was given to the former Head of Sub-Directorate V of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Kombes Rizal Irawan, amounting to Rp. 2.6 billion.
As a result of his actions, Kompol Agus Teguh was found guilty and received a 10-year demonstration. Meanwhile, Kombes Rizal Irawan was sentenced to 5 years of demotion.
