Collaborating With Qualcomm, NiO ET7 Smart Car Bring 5G Technology

JAKARTA - Qualcomm Technologies and electric car manufacturer NIO Inc, plan to present a new generation of digital cockpit technology in the Nio ET7. It is planned that the car with 5G technology will be available in 2022.

The Nio ET7 will feature an automotive cockpit platform made by the 3rd Generation Qualcomm Snapdragon. Thanks to the 5G platform, it will bring smart and immersive in-vehicle experiences to consumers.

"To continue to bring a better experience to users through technological innovation is Nio's aspiration," said Xin Zhou, Executive Vice President of Nio Products, Tuesday, January 12.

Leveraging on Qualcomm's leading technology innovations, this collaboration aims to provide a more intuitive and immersive digital cockpit experience. High-compute capabilities are also driving the transformation of digital transportation towards smart, 5G-connected vehicles.

As Qualcomm Technologies' first announced, automotive-grade, automotive-grade, artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital cockpit platform, the 3rd Generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platform supports high-performance computing, immersive graphics, multimedia and computer vision capabilities.

The Snapdragon Automotive 5G Platform is the first announced automotive-grade 5G dual SIM dual active (DSDA) automotive platform with comprehensive and industry-leading 5G connectivity capabilities.

Coupled with advanced features like the C-V2X and high-precision positioning, the platform can effectively support automakers like NIO to develop faster, safer and differentiated telematics products for next-generation connected vehicles.

Based on the Snapdragon 5G Automotive Platform, the Nio ET7 can deliver rich applications and immersive emotional experiences, enabling smarter connectivity and autonomous driving use cases.

"We are delighted to be working with Nio to support smart mobility designed to deliver new driving experiences," said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and GM, automotive, Qualcomm Technologies.
