31 Residents Of Central Lombok Crack Hamlet Toxic Food Celebration

Dozens of residents of Kerekok Hamlet, Pelambek Village, Southwest Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are suspected of having been poisoned by eating packaged rice during a thanksgiving event at a resident's house in the local area.

"For now, all poisoned victims are still undergoing treatment at the puskesmas," said Central Lombok Police Chief AKBP Irfan Nurmansyah, in Praya, NTB, Friday, March 17, confiscated by Antara.

The incident began when a resident was invited by one of the residents in Kerekek Hamlet to attend a thanksgiving event at his house. To give a banquet to his guest, the owner of the house ordered his sister to order packaged rice at a shop owned by a resident with the initials DM in Darek Village.

"After the thanksgiving ceremony was over, 50 packs of packaged rice were distributed to guests who came to the event," he said.

Furthermore, invited guests return to their respective homes with the packaged rice that has been distributed.

"After 30 minutes, residents who ate the packaged rice received complaints of nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and weakness," he said.

The victims were then rushed to the puskesmas, some were taken to the Darek Health Center as many as 3 people, the Penujak Health Center as many as 7 people, and the Batujai Health Center as many as 21 people.

"On average, the victim experienced nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and weakness. The victims of poisoning were dominated by young children, toddlers, and elderly parents," he said.

Receiving a report about the incident, he said, members immediately went down to check the condition of the victims at each puskesmas where they treated poisoned residents.

Then, he explained, the police secured the rest of the packaged rice at the event owner, asked for information from the owner of the thanksgiving event, and the owner of the rice shop where he bought the packaged rice.

"The food sample has been handed over to the Darek Health Center for examination so that the content in it is known," he said.
