Vuzix Presents Stylish Glasses That Can Show Virtual Maps
JAKARTA - Vuzix, a manufacturer of wearable and augmented reality (AR) devices, is back at CES 2021. This company from the United States is presenting its newest smart glasses device.
The new smart glasses are powered by microLED technology, a collaboration with a Chinese company, Jade Bird Display. Recently, microLED displays have begun to be widely used as an alternative to OLED displays.
This technology is capable of displaying a screen that is small and strong enough to be placed on both sides of the smart glasses. Vuzix claims that this device is similar to other devices that are comfortable to use in public for everyday purposes.
This device is combined with waveguide technology and an optical engine for mapping images into glass. The results are quite impressive, the device can project stereoscopic monochrome or color images on both lenses in various resolutions.
Vuzix says that these smart glasses can support Wi-Fi, LTE options, stereo speakers and noise cancellation. This device also comes with gesture control support through the iOS and Android operating systems. This device will be released in the summer as quoted from TechCrunch.
Since this year's CES event is held virtually, this smartglass cannot yet be tested by customers to prove the comfort level and image quality displayed on the lens.
Launching TheVerge, Vuzix does not target consumers who use devices like Google Glass just to get a first impression of how well the device is being used. These Vuzix smart glasses are intended for companies.
A number of other companies are also developing smart glasses devices, such as Microsoft HoloLens, second generation Google Glass, and AR Magic Leap glasses. Meanwhile, Facebook, on the other hand, continues to secretly pour funds for the development of its VR device called Oculus.
It doesn't stop there, the competition for AR and VR-based devices has also been enlivened by Amazon, which presents its Echo Frames. Coupled with the circulating rumors that Apple will also release its AR device or smart glasses in the near future.
