Samsung Registers Under-Screen Selfie Camera Patent Design

JAKARTA - Currently, cellphone manufacturers are thinking about how to minimize the notch design or the hole where the front camera is located. And interestingly, Samsung is reportedly working on an under-display front camera project.

Citing the Tom's Guide page, Tuesday, January 12, the South Korean company has filed a patent with the USPTO, the patent and trademark office in the United States (US). As seen from this patent, Samsung plans to make under-screen camera technology.

The design of the camera under the screen is claimed to be similar to the designs owned by OPPO and ZTE. The documents on the patent look like two separate panels with separate locations but are still connected. The screen part of the device is also visible standard matrix.

While the smaller panels are in the left or right corner. The smaller panel has a much higher light transmission and houses not only the camera but IR blaster and flash as well. The panels have a lower resolution to aid further light transmission.

Why is it divided into two? Yes, because the panel with the selfie camera underneath will have a higher light transmission and could also have a lower resolution, allowing the lens to work through the screen.

This design makes the device similar to the ZTE Axon 20 5G display. The small pieces in the panel have a lower resolution and allow more light to pass through.

Unfortunately, it is not certain what device will be embedded with this technology, it is unlikely that it will be the Galaxy S21, considering the launch will arrive this week. However, rumors suggest it is a Galaxy Z Fold 3 phone.
