Firmly, Chairman Of DK DKPP Heddy Lugito: Elections Stay Once Every Five Years
Chairman of the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) Heddy Lugito emphasized that his party remains committed to carrying out the mandate of Article 22e paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution (UUD) which states that elections are held every five years.
This affirmation was conveyed by Heddy Lugito during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission II of the DPR RI in the Commission II Working Meeting Room, Nusantara Building of the DPR, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 15.
"Article 22e of the 1945 Constitution states that elections are once every 5 years. I think it should be a guide for all parties, including the DKPP in terms of implementing the electoral law," he said.
He added that DKPP is committed to carrying out its duties, functions, and authorities based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections and the 1945 Constitution as long as there is no new regulation that replaces the provisions on electoral matters. "This is DKPP's commitment," said Heddy.
To note, this RDP was held to discuss the follow-up to the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) Decision Regarding Case Number 757 / Pdt.G / 2022 / PN Jkt.Pst concerning the Postponement of the Implementation of General Elections in 2024.
Heddy was accompanied by DKPP Member I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi. In addition, there were also the Chairpersons and Members of the Indonesian KPU and the Indonesian Bawaslu in this RDP.
Case Number 757 / Pdt.G / 2022 / PN Jkt.Pst itself was filed by the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (PRIMA) with the Indonesian KPU as the Defendant.
The Central Jakarta District Court's decision in this case said that the current 2024 general election stage had to be stopped and repeated from scratch for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days.
According to Heddy Lugito, DKPP has received a complaint regarding the decision. The complaint, he said, was filed by the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Unit (KAMMI) which complained against the Chairman and Member of the Indonesian KPU on March 7, 2023. "Until now, it is still in the administrative verification process," he concluded.
