The Ministry Of PUPR Calls The Need For Cooperation Of All Policy Manufacturers To Reduce Carbon Emissions

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said the need for cooperation from all parties to reduce carbon emissions in Indonesia.

This needs to be done in order to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

"We have a national commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If we are assisted by collaboration with various international parties, we can (achieve) 41 percent. This requires a joint commitment between stakeholders, researchers, the government, for the 2060 target, net zero carbon," said the Special Staff of the Ministry of PUPR for Water Resources Firdaus Ali to reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 15.

According to Ali, Indonesia is currently facing a very bad situation. This is because the population in the country continues to increase and from these activities it is known to have produced so significant greenhouse effect gases.

"Our platform has a big challenge that we already have 8 billion populations, yes, from the 8 billion activity then producing disposals called carbon emissions or we also know greenhouse gases," he said.

It didn't stop there, Ali even explained about the disaster Indonesia would face if it did not immediately stop the effect of the greenhouse gas.

"The worst threat we are facing is the 2022 incident, where many places in the world face the most massive hydrometeorological disasters, I call one of the disasters in Pakistan, 1482 people died. Then, the biggest disaster was also experienced by Solo," he explained.

"Why? Because our greenhouse gas emissions are getting higher, our residential temperatures are getting higher, this disaster will often occur as we are currently facing it," said Ali.

Therefore, Ali appealed to all relevant stakeholders to work together to achieve this desired target. "So, we need our collective enthusiasm to solve the problem (carbon emissions)," he concluded.
